hi i have had issues of damp in the boot of my car which the fix concerning the brake light elsewhere on the forum has fixed-so thanks. however i also have a problem of water pooling beneath the carpet under the seats-for some reason on the passenger side more than the drivers. at first i thought it was coming from the boot, but now this is fixed obviously not. the seats and top of carpets are fine so i don't think it is from roof. it is when it rains however, so again i don't think from the air con etc. has anyone had similar issues and know where the water might be coming from or how to fix? it is getting to the stage that if i can't fix i may have to give up on my beloved bits so your help would be appreciated! thanks
Hi Bitsyboo, never heard of damp carpets behind the seats before. Have you sat inside the car whilst it,s been raining to look for leak points? Or had someone poor a watering can over the roof? My first thoughts are damaged roof seals. Open the roof half way & inspect the seal between the top & rear window sections.
I would still not discount the problem being caused by water from the boot area. I had horrible damp under the seats from the mass of water in the boot so much so it went white and mouldy. I had to scrub the carpets and then use a very strong air freshener to get rid of the dusky smell. Even after completing the replacement boot brake light fix and checking all over the place, I am still getting water in the boot although nowhere near as much. KS
How long ago did you complete the fix? I did our a couple of weeks ago and still getting a small amount of water drips right in the centre of the retractable canopy. I'm putting this down to condensation dripping from the inner surface of the boot lid caused by moisture remaining in the boot from before the fix was done. I'm going to stick a couple of wireless portable dehumidifier units in to see if it sort it out. Will let you know how it goes.
I did mine some time ago but it was certainly not an instant fix! https://www.copenworld.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=1389&highlight=boot+leak It took forever to dry out but never completely. I still think that my issue is down to the boot open/close adjustment or boot seals but to be totally honest, I just live with the problem now. KS
Hi I agree this can be a very annoying problem. I think you might find its from the window rubbers, when it rain water seeps down the rubber into the footwell. It's so slow you'd never know it was happening. A good way to fix is to get some plastic hose, take door rubber slightly off and then pack the rubber into the ends of the door rubber. Which will make a tighter fix around the window. No more leaks! Hope this helps
