Hi I'm.in Canada and found a a 2006 copen. The owner says he thinks the timing chain has stretched because he hears rattling. It's for 3000 cad. I've read everything needs to be taken off 5he top of the engine and might even need to have the engine removed to fix the tensioner or the chain. Is there a way I can tell when I go to see the car without taking it apart (before I buy it) could there be damage to the engine because of the stretched chain that might not make it worth buying? I'm really small so my hands can fit where others can't so im hoping i wouldn't need to take off everything. Does anyone have a diagram of exactly would need removal for me to get to it? I've read that the engine needs 5w40 and a special oil filter otherwise it can cause tension loss. I'm hoping it would be that simple but im not sure if daihatsu parts are available in Canada. I've read parts in general are hard to find. Would this be a good gift for my niece or should I look for a newer, easier to find parts for, car. As her aunty, I want her to have something fun, yet good on gas.
