    Hello everyone!

My Name is Chris. I'm from Germany and the most asked question I think is which Copen I drive.
Well, I have a silver Copen with an 1.3l engine and a lot of the original extras Daihatsu delivered:
    -brown leather seats
    -brown leather in the doors
    -the silver gear lever
    -burlwood facing at the radio
    -stainless steel radiator cowling
    -short antenna
-the facing at the rear around the exhaust
    -rear spoiler
-persennig (sorry I didn't found the right translation)

self made specials: the roof can also bee opened while you're driving and I built in a speed control

Now I think it's quite nice to know how I got my little car (which fits perfect to my size of 165cm ^^): While delivering the news paper in our little village at the Bodensee (I tried to get some extra money for my scooter driver's licence) I saw this tiny little car the first time at our Daihatsu dealer. I just said to my mother: "Hey that's a cool car. I didn't knew that Daihatsu produces sports cars. It was time that there's a car with character not like these mainstream cars from the big companies. You know what? I think that's the car I want later." Well my mother just laughed at me and didn't believe my words. Some days later the Copen was gone and the next years I've never seen another one again. Then in 2007 I was working for the German Airforce and needed a car. I looked for a cheap car and remembered the Cars from Daihatsu. And then I saw the Copen again and the decision were made. Now, at least 5 years and 120 000 km later I'm still in love like the first day with this unbelivable car.

Now that was the story of me and my Copen. I hope you enjoyed it!

    Greetings, Chris

Hi Chris, Welcome to Copenworld. Your Copen sounds great.

Don't suppose you have a "how to" on making your roof open whilst in motion?
Love to see some pictures of your Copen. Interested in seeing your stainless radiator cover.

While it would probably be unwise to operate the roof at speed I'd also like to know how to do it so I could open/close it while moving.

My wife and I love our Copen as well (she thinks it's her car )
You think it's perfect for your size? My wife is 150cm

Opening the roof while moving does sound interesting...

...but why would you want to control the speed  Or are you talking about cruise control? If you're talking cruise control, I'd be interested to know how you did that :D

Not wanting to steal Chris's thread, I've found a link to the German Copen club with a how to on opening the roof whilst moving. I'll start another thread.

    Hello again!

Yes I think the better translation for speed control is cruise control. It was a kit from the company "Waeco". It's not very difficult to assemble it to the car if you're a mechanic (I'm a mechanic for aircrafts). But if you don't do such things often, I would prefer do give this work to a professional.
I'm also in a german copen forum. I got the "how to" for the roof from that forum.

You used to be able to buy a cruise control kit that was a retro fit and could be fitted to most cars. Just had a look on eBay and these kits don't seem to be around now. Maybe modern engine management systems have ended the one kit fits all add ons.

Thanks to Chris, I googled Waeco Cruise Control kit and got a few hits - including on UK ebay.

    Sounds like a nice project...
