    Hi guys,

I had a problem recently with my ride. The pickup has been stuttering at around 3000rpm. At times, it has been smooth and willing to go beyond 3000rpm. But mostly, the car jerks abnormally when crossing the 3000rpm mark.

Side note, my radiator was leaking but was fixed with a custom cover. But I doubt the problem is due to the radiator.

Went to a couple of workshops today. The diagnostic test came out okay for all the electronic items. Mechanic says no leakage around any of the pipes.

    Anyone encountered such symptons before?

    Thanks!

A couple of photos to share on my leaky radiator.

7 years old car... so maybe it is time to change the radiator.

After waiting for a couple of days, they fixed it with this. Notice the top cover has been changed to a black and boxy version.

Hope this can last me another lifetime.

The workshop mechanic suggested that the problem could be due to a clogged up petrol/fuel filter on my 7 year old car. Has anyone managed to change theirs? He has problem finding a replacement part. Thanks!

    How's the car, sorted it?
They read the error codes on a obd scanner?
Sounds like it might be a vacuum hose, dirty maf sensor, oxygen sensor fault or even spark plug/lead problem. Has fuel consumption changed?

Unfortunately, it has not been sorted out yet. I am still driving it as it is, and learning how to cope with it. So far there isn't noticeable changes to the fuel consumption.

There is no error codes shown so far, even after two separate mechanics have tested their OBD equipment on it. However, a few Copen owners suggested it to be the ignition coils. So now, I am awaiting delivery of a set of ignition coils. Hopefully they are the right ones and the problem goes away after changing them. :(

My package of 4 ignition coils arrived yesterday and I had all 4 of them replaced by my workshop immediately. A couple of hiccups along the way but the stuttering is gone so I am happy.

Seems like the right parts and from the same manufacturer.

On closer examination of the coils that were removed, one of the 4 has some connecting pins bent inwards. The left one shows a normal coil while the right shows the pins not to be in the usual position. This is likely the cause of the stuttering pickup issue. So be very careful when you plug your coils in!

Now for the hiccups that I mentioned earlier.

During the coils replacement, the mechanic removed some piping before he could get to the coils. When he put back the items, one pipe was not replaced properly and I had loss of power at 2k rpm. The pipe (in blue) needs to be connected to the protruding tube (in red). But this protruding tube seems to be broken and its not possible to connect the pipe securely. In the end, some sort of superglue had to be used to secure the connection.

The end result, although acceptable, I still manage to feel poor response from the car in rare occasions. I am guessing the mechanic did a poor job on the glueing.

What is the part in yellow? Anyone has the part number? I may want to replace it. :(

Thanks Adam! The first link has a part with this number 17670-87204 884900-0760. How is this different from the 17670-87204-000 number in the 2nd link?

Do you think there is a better way to fix the broken BOV?

Hi Joe, my wife's copen met with a stuttering sensation and sudden loss of power earlier today. Called a few mechanics and described the symptoms to them and all of them said it may be due to the ignition coils. One of them quoted S$145 per pc and he advised me to changed all 4. Could you advise me where and how much you ordered your coils? Thanks. Jason (Sgp).

    Hi Ilain,

Thank you so much. I think my wife has received the link on her group chat with you guys. Anyway, managed to purchase 3 pieces from a guy whose email was given in another subject. The 4th piece arriving in a week's time. Had 3 pieces changed last night and the one below the BOV is the culprit. The car is running fine now. Thank you so much.
