well the Cooen’s thrown me another curve ball ! I live close to a bypass with more roundabouts than enough but have obviously become adept at taking them at full tilt. Anyway, yesterday I hurled the Copen into one of the larger roundabouts and changed up to third as I was exiting. The car shuddered and shook like the gearbox was about to fall off and then carried on as normal. It did seem more unsettled than usual taking corners on uneven surfaces with the roof up so I had to ease off considerably. As part of the alternator saga, the garage removed the offside (right) driveshaft so I took it to the garage to ask them to just check something hadn’t become dislodged. Everything was ok, although there was some minor movement when they put a pry bar on the engine and gearbox mountings but nothing untoward for 55k miles (88k km). It still seems unsettled so I’ve had it on jacks and pulled, pushed and shoved all the front steering and suspension and there’s nothing knocking or grinding. Suspension springs and turrets are all good as are the underbody crossmembers and braces. Any ideas what to look at next.
I had that once many years ago while taking a steep corner and hitting a minor pothole at once. Tyre rubbed at the wheel arches, no damage was done, I checked. It has not occurred since
