Disaster has struck! The head gasket has gone on my Copen and, sadly, given the price that I have been quoted for a repair, I think it's time to call it a day. It's a 53 reg and I've been quoted £1050 for a new head gasket (provided it's not cracked ...) I am reluctant to just scrap the car, so I was wondering whether anyone would know of someone who buys Copens to use for parts. That way I might make a bit of money back and it will come into use for others too. Now it's time to look for a new car but unfortunately, nothing else comes close. Thank you in advance.
sorry to hear about your car. The head gasket went on my Copen too the other month. I got a quote of £300-400 to fix it. In the end I had to also change the water pump and repair the radiator. Total price for labour was £500. I sourced the gasket, pump and radiator repair myself and it cost me around £320. The price that you have been quoted seems very high. There is a new thread on the forum which links to a parts supplier. Could you purchase the parts yourself and get the garage to just fix the engine?
Have you decided what you're doing with it? If you have good condition leather interior, I may be interested in taking that off you?!
a if you can sell me some interior trim parts such as RH pillar trim and centre console i'd get it off you
Roof ECU Due to water leakage into the boot the roof ECU has given up. so if you are breaking that car I would be very interested in buying that, also what colour as I also need a front skirt Cheers Gary
STOP !!! We are talking about dismembering one of the family ! Sell the pig and get a new head gasket.
It seems a shame to break it up but if you decide that's what you have to do then I'm interested in the seat covers (assuming they're red).
