OK, it's only a tiny ding, but I know it's there. What is the point in me taking the trouble to keep my car looking nice when people do things like that? I'm sorry, and I know I'm being grumpy, but I'm sure there's not the same degree of respect for other people's property that I was taught to have. I've already been told, "It's only a car". Yes, I know, but it's my car, and I went to a lot of trouble to get it. I was given some money to buy myself a new crash helmet for the bike, but I suppose now it'll have to go to Dent Devils instead.
You're not being grumpy, it's perfectly understandable. I'd feel exactly the same! I presume the culprit didn't own up to the damage? Was the car in a car park at the time?
I know exactly how you feel and you have my sympathy. I always try to park on the road or in a spot where other cars doors can't reach. I hope you get it sorted easily. M.
Thankyou! No, nobody owned up. I think it must have been in a shop car park - I think it was the local pet store where I park while I'm working. I usually do try and park well out of the way, but the Yellow Peril seems to have a magnetic personality... Anyway, I'll let you know how I get on with getting it fixed. I'll try to get some quotes tomorrow.
Oh dear Pikachu, sorry to hear that. I'm dreading something like that happening. I've been getting into work early so I can get the best parking spots. The worst has got to be supermarket car parks with all those trolleys I think they should put those pound things on all trolleys so people put them back! Rex.
You know, I think I might just start doing that too, Rushmere! And Rex, that's a good idea - maybe I ought to start a petition...
I know exactly what you mean Pikachu. Some unspeakable idiot ran into the back of my little silver pride and joy last week when it was just parked outside the house as usual, doing no harm to anyone. Must have happened during the night - I invented some brand new words the next day when I spotted the damage. Of course there was no chance of anyone leaving their details. 2 days in the garage and several hundred quid to get the dents out and put his panels back together. Grrrrrrrr....... And I totally understand what you mean, Pikachu, when people say 'It's only a car'. Several of my friends said 'ah, don't worry, I've got worse scratches than that on mine, had them for years'. Well, I think, yes, but, no offence, your car is rubbish compared to my Copen
Hey, Pikachu, Is the YP fit and well again now?? Please update, we're all waiting on tenterhooks. Rex.
Hi, Rex - thanks for asking! I've decided to leave it for now - there's a very tiny bit of blue paint on the petrol cap cover that I'll be able to remove with a dab of my son's Feracla rubbing compound, and a very very small dent below it on the wing that hasn't damaged the paintwork, and that you really have to look for. With Christmas coming up, I really can't justify getting it done professionally - maybe in the new year, especially if I get money for pressies! LadyNim, yes, that's exactly it. Copens are obviously not your average car, and generally look very shiny and well cared for, and most of us go out of our way to park them somewhere we hope they'll be safe. So why can't people be a little bit careful? Not just round our cars, but around anybodys'. They may be "just cars", but they're still somebody's hard-earned propert.
