I have recently had to patch up the middle exhaust box as my 660cc Copen failed the MOT on the lambda test. Most of the exhaust looks quite poor condition so I'm looking for a replacement system. None of the local exhaust places can help. There's a middle box on eBay but it's different to mine (maybe because there are two different types of exhaust - two and three parts).

I'm not far from Bristol so can get Infinity Exhausts to make a system but I'm looking for a cheaper option than in the region of £700.

Are Copen exhausts available anywhere please? I would prefer to have someone fit it but will struggle with it myself if necessary! I asked a local exhaust supplier if they would fit a system supplied by myself but they would not do this.

Hi Bruce, faced a similar problem with my 659cc Copen but elected to remove the whole standard system with a dealer near me that supply’s and fits ‘Powerflow’ systems which is a franchise. I chose a system built very similar to the original so not to overdo it with a loud exhaust which does not suit the standard turbo pressure balance of the whole system. Great improvement and yes it’s expensive but good value as the car is a lot quicker. The reason being it has not constricted exhaust flow and doesn’t break noise barriers for the MOT. If you are interested I still have the old exhaust which is still in a reasonable condition free, collection only but needs some TLC. Private message me if interested in the exhaust. Contact for supplier www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk

Thank you very much for your kind offer. I don't really want to repair a secondhand exhaust but I have messaged Powerflow in Yeovil for a price for a replacement system.

Just the other day I replaced my exhaust with a HKS one from Nengun in Japan because of the same problem. Not a cheap option by any means. £550 + shipping and customs. There's a cheaper one from Fujitsubo for £460 (+ postage and customs) Fujitsubo - Authorize K

Getting one made locally would avoid the customs and shipping, but the labour cost of making a custom system could outweigh those benefits... I am curious as to how much it would cost in the end.

Hi Afron1, yes you are absolutely right, it cost us £700.00 with an MOT thrown in the deal. I always, having been in the motor trade, work on getting a good deal. The car was put up on a ramp along with the person making the exhaust in stainless steel and was told explicitly to copy the system with modern parts more suited to the way the engine operates. After I fitted new Denso upstream and downstream lambda sensors to the old system which needed replacement as was beginning develop pin holes in the pipework. The catalysts are in good order if someone wanted to rebuild the original system they need to find someone who knows how to cut and shape the steel pipework and re weld to the original parts. I could have done this when I was younger, NO PROBLEM. Unfortunately I ‘m 74 now and have recovered from open heart surgery. No tears please  as the brain is still very sharp. My past job was working for research and development B.O.C. welding division. As I’m feeling a bit better I’m hoping to get Dennis the Menace out of the garage re MOT and may well film the whole event. Happy Days.

It doesn't come with the catalytic converter as it doesn't replace it. You keep the original one bolted to the end of the turbo.
