Is there such a thing as a rear brake shoe fitting kit? My 1.3 Copen needs rear shoes and there looks to be some clips retaining the shoes to the adjusters and handbrake mechanism. (I don't mean the 2 spring retaining clips that hold the shoes to the back plate.) I don't want to strip it and break them. Thanks Sean
Hi Shiftyseamus, Japanese manufacturers use generic components in their industry all you have to do is take dimensions and photographs of the part, or preferably the part itself to someone who deals with Japanese cars of any manufacture and is knowledgeable, to see if the part matches anything they have seen before despite they may have different part numbers that are only within that manufacturer. This is standard engineering practice
Hi Sean, You could try checking with a Toyota dealer. I've noticed when ordering parts from Japan that if I enter a part number, I often get two options at nearly the same price—one labeled Toyota and the other Daihatsu. In reality, they’re the exact same part, just with different branding on the packaging.
Found this website showing individual parts for the rear break drum (Toyota) which is almost similar as Daihatsu Copen. Hope this helps https://www.amayama.com/en/catalogs...r-drum-brake-wheel-cylinder-backing-plate-143
