Hi everyone. Took the Copen for a drive yesterday with the roof down, first time in ages, but I noticed a puddle of water in the boot just under the retractable cover. I've not had the roof down for a while and the car hasn't been driven for about 2 weeks, has anyone else experienced this problem? Thanks
Hi Ads, Well you can get some condensation on the inside of the boot lid. The more likely suspect would be the middle brake light on the boot lid. The seal has been known to leak. Why not put a piece of kitchen towel down on the bottom of the boot under where the brake light is. Close the boot & spray/sprinkle water onto the brake light for a bit. Then check for water droplets.
I'd agree that the brakelight is the most likely leak. It was on mine a few years ago anyway. Fortunately, it's an easy fix. M.
I also agree, Mine leaked so I bought a new seal from the main dealer ( damn expensive ) took the light off and refitted with the new seal. was a bitch of a job as boot lid kept flexing and the light wouldn't clip back in. If i had to do it again i'd dry the old seal with a hot air gun on a REALLY low setting and mask up the light and seal with a decent trade clear silicon !!
I don't mean state the obvious, but could it have happened when the boot was opened after it had been raining? The water will run into the boot if you open it wide when it is wet. Just a thought before you buy a new seal. Rex.
I just came onto the forum to report a similar problem. I was looking around my new car and found a puddle in the boot and can't work out where it's coming from. I'm off now to investigate the light seal. Thanks for the tips. I will report back if it appears to be the problem.
Have finally got around to taking out the boot light today and that was definately the cause of the problem. Couldn't get another seal so have used silicone. Hopefully, job done.
