So, the big 5 0 is just around the corner  and I'm thinking what would I like to do most with 3 or 4 days of free time?

We've been on city breaks to Europe before, and although we've enjoyed them, we've always felt a bit rushed and uncomfortable for some reason or another, but the beer has always been superb!

So, this time we're doing something different, a lovely relaxed tour of North Wales and the Snowdonia National Park in Buzz. What could possibly be better?

We know this area quite well, as young 'uns growing up on the outskirts of Manchester in the 70's, this was always our annual holiday destination.

We intend to take a leisurely meander through Mold, Ruthin and Denbigh before reaching our luxury Bed and Breakfast 'base camp' in beautiful Betws y Coed. What a treat! :D

In the days that follow, we intend to visit most of our old favourite places, Lllanrwst, Trefiw, Conwy, Llandudno, Caernarfon, Llanberis, Beddgelert to name a few. We might even venture over into Anglesey at some point.

We've already started praying for cold, crisp, frosty nights with bright sunny days, definitely our favourites!

Many photos are planned to be taken, and posted on Copenworld of course!

If you're not familiar with this part of the world, you never know, we might even inspire you and your Copen(s) to make a visit. It is truly beautiful. :)

    Cheers!

Phill and Lin and Buzz the Copen.

Include Llangollen in your tour it's a beautiful little town. I would also definitely visit Portmeiron where the original Prisoner Tv show was filmed. If you haven't been before it's a must to visit. You might be a bit young to remember that show though.:)

Thanks very much for that DaG. We've never really spent any time in Llangollen for some unknown reason, so we'll make sure we do this time. Good call!

By the way, have you heard anything from TAF recently?

Phill your plan sounds the business! Romantic Wales.....hair blowing in the breeze.....Buzz eating up those narrow winding mountain roads.....just pack the wellies, Ok?

By the way, how are you managing the luggage? Have you got a boot rack or are you just taking a toothbrush?

Do send some piccies and have a great time :D:D

Nah TAF has disappeared. We used to chat all the time by PM but since the meet in the park last September he hasnt been around. I've tried PM-ing him but no response. I hope he's ok.
Was he at the K cars in the park last September? Anybody who was there.

I bought the box set a couple of years ago and I've just bought a load of Danger Man dvd's last Week. I'm a massive fan iof the old ITC Sunday night shows like The Saint, Man in a suitcase. the Baron, The Avengers and of course the Prisoner. I made a high mileage round trip to Wales just to visit Portmeiron and the set of the Prisoner a few years back. The concrete boat is still there where McGoohan played Chess with the old sailor, as is most of the buildings that were used as living quarters for the prisoners.
The massive chess board played with people dressed as chess pieces has gone, it's just a grassed area now. Portmeiron is worth a walk around just to recognise scenes from the show and travel back in time. I must revisit it soon.

Thanks for the replies to DaG and OB. Much appreciated.

We've been to Portmerion many years ago, and although we appreciated it, The Prisoner series was before our time, so it didn't have the same kind of impact on us. Very pretty though, I must admit.

No, TAF didn't attend the event in September. Lin and I were there all day and saw no sign of him. Wonder what has happened? :(

Hello there hiramscodd! Thanks for the response to my posts.

Yes, looking forward to our Snowdonia trip very much! Can't wait to revisit a few spots that we haven't been to for at least 15 years!

We went up to the North East last year and stayed near Alnwick, it was glorious! But we went in the company van as we had some deliveries to make. Buzz had to stay at home :(

    Cheers!

    Phill and Lin and Buzz.

I've never been in Beamish even though it's only about 8 miles from where I live. There are some very nice pubs around Beamish and I've been in them all many times  but not the museum itself.
If you have time visit the glass centre in Sunderland. Sunderland has a heritage of ship building and also glass. The glass centre is on the side of the wear in North sunderland and only a two minute drive from the coastal resorts of Roker and seaburn. You could leave the glass centre turn right and drive along the coast to Roker, Seaburn and then along to South shields.
South Shields Ocean road has 14 indian restaurants on it, if you like indian food that is.:)

Hiramscodd is a racehorse! Hiram Codd seems to be the Victorian bottle wizard. Do you collect old bottles? Personally I throw them away. :D

Good morning to Copen fans everywhere!

Just getting back to OB regarding the size of the Copen boot. I'm quite surprised that you don't think it's large! Certainly enough to get a large soft sided case or bag into, for 3 or 4 days touring in Snowdonia :D

Obviously, when the roof is down, now that's a different kettle of fish! :-((

    Cheers!

    Phill and Lin and Buzz.

Yes Phill, I agree - did a load of shopping yesterday - no problem with the boot capacity. Problem is, if you're on the road with luggage, you can't put the roof down :( Which is why I was thinking about a boot rack.....but then you'd need waterproof luggage and you'd have to take off the luggage to close the roof if you get caught in a shower...I guess Copen is not really a tourer....:think::-((
