I've just purchased a second hand 2004 Copen (Australia) and the radio needs programming, but I don't have the disc. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
I'm not sure what you mean, is it an import and you need to change language or something? If it's locked up and needs a factory code you'd need a dealership (only 1 in aussie) or there's 'unlock' cd's you can buy that claim to do the job. If it's the original stereo though you can probably pick up a better new one for less than unlocking it.
Toyota dealers in OZ handle Daihatsu now just not all of them so ring around. Personally I'd just install a new radio
AUSTRALIA ・TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION AUSTRALIA Daihatsu, PO Box 187, Caringbah, NSW, 2229 TEL:1800 252 097 I bought a new Bluetooth stereo for £36, far better than the 13 year old original, the unlock CD's I can see advertised at £25. Install is easy, there's instructions on here somewhere I think.
The factory radio in the Australian Copens have an anti-theft option to lock the radio to a CD. The CD can be any music CD that the owner chooses. I bought my car new and the radio manual was thicker than the cars owner manual. The back page has a section to write the name of the CD that the owner locked it with. The CD is only required to unlock the radio after power has been removed from it. If you don't have the disk name, then it will be impossible to unlock. I replaced mine with a double din unit off ebay and have been much happier ever since.
