There are 2 slots as above which look as though they're for brackets for a missing fire extinguisher or similar. Does anyone know what should go there?
They're empty on mine as well, I was assuming a previous owner had something fitted until I saw this.

It's the flare bracket. It's a requirement in Japan, and illegal nearly everywhere else. @MultiplexMan : Do you have a part number for that strobe and the brackets?
Japans probably one of the few places where the drivers wouldn't try to shoot each other with the flare. Wonder if you can get a fully automatic flare gun?
It's not a flare that fires out like a boat flare, it's more like a roman candle firework, just sits on the road throwing out red light. And nope, the Japanese do use them to illuminate car gatherings/events/street races
