    Hi All

There has been some conjecture about different lubricants. A motor cycle chain is probably a good analogy to start with and it has to do a lot of things in a hostile environment. Most people do not look after their chain and on regular basis have to change it and the sprockets. This can be avoided with a little bit of attention to detail. I have always used WD40 or diesel on a chain directly before applying spray on chain oil. This facilitates capillary action to carry the liquid grease deep into all the joints were it is supposed to be for the best protection of the moving parts. It takes a little while for the spray grease to dry on the outside but is still pliable on the inside. We have used this same idea on our roof mechanism and it works fine with no problems. You can use this process on dry joints in the suspension under the car to stop any creaking and preserve the rubber components and prevent corrosion from entering. Very similar to the old wax oil treatment which is still as good today as it was then.
