Stupidly, I've lost my only key and fob to my 2008 1.3 Copen... Any advice appreciated on what is the best way forward? Locksmith?
If you know the key code (normally attached to a metal tag on the key ring unfortunately), you may be able to get another key cut. You can switch off the immobiliser with the PIN code if you have a Cobra unit with the small red LED.
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I don't have either the metal tag, gone with the key or a Cobra unit.
I think you may well be in for an unpleasant surprise then. Based on other cars with a modern immobiliser, you’re going to need a new or reprogrammed engine ECU as well as replacement lock barrels for both doors and the ignition. Might be worth having another look for those keys and then off to Timpsons for a spare.
Based on a RAV4 I had to replace the key on. You will need a new ignition barrel, imobliser box and keys that cost about $500 Ozzey from the Toyota dealer. Might be best to find a someone wrecking one.
@jez77 I reckon more than double that in the UK. Unfortunately, it might be enough to write the car off.
