I'm new on here, only bought my car a few days ago. Unfortunately I didn't get an Owners Handbook so I had to work everything out. The roof worked fine.....twice, then nothing happened. The big windows worked but the little rear ones didn't, so I guessed there must be something electrical. I was hoping for advice on why my roof won't go up, but couldn't find an answer. I'd tried You Tube but all I found was some bloke who had pulled a black box from under the dash, bypassed two terminals & counted how many times a warning light flashed to give him a fault code. He said there would be a link at the end, but there wasn't.
After trying everywhere I found Copenworld, it's good to be here.
I bought a "Pdf" manual off ebay for £5.60 from gen151391 & it was in my inbox within 2 minutes. Now I'm not good with computers but I finally managed to open it. Holey-Moley, 1500 pages. It,s more for mechanics, I went to the electrical section, but there was no "Trouble Shooting" section, but one thing stuck in my head, it said "If you disconnect the battery the ECU will lose stored memory"
I laid in bed thinking about it. My logic said it wouldn't lose the factory settings as my car didn't have a battery when I got it & it runs nicely now. Then I thought about when my TV, SKY box & assorted electronic gizmo's go on the blink my missus unplugs them, reconnects & they work, it's called "Re-Booting"
You know where I'm going. Next morning I got my 10mm spanner & disconnected the battery, left it for a couple of hours & reconnected it. I sat in the car, switched it on, & with bated breath pressed the window switches. They went down, including the small ones, followed by a whirring as the roof tucked itself into the boot. I couldn't believe it. The only thing I lost were the pre-sets on the radio.
Maybe this will work for other electrical malfunctions, I hope this helps.
