I've been wanting a red Copen for about 9 years but it was totally impractical while I was working. I'm now retired and today - took ownership of a RED Copen with red leather (heated!!!!!) seats. One lady owner and only 30,000 miles on the clock. I drove it home from Yorkshire - 187.2 miles and it was a joy all the way. I drove for a while with the top down and my music playing LOUDLY (Bob Seeger) - it was bloody cold but astonishingly little wind. Now I need advice about a boot rack. I think it'll look so cool, just as if I've stepped out of a Father Brown episode! Oh, I suppose I should tell you about myself - I'm called Norma and I HAVE A RED COPEN!!!!
Welcome to the club Norma . MMM a boot rack is there such a thing? think i would be a little apprehensive myself the boot lid is only ally and a little flimsy ,be interesting to find others ideas.
welcome, you sound well suited to Copen life info on boot racks here: https://www.copenworld.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=89&highlight=boot+rack
Love your enthusiasm, Norma - welcome to the happy world of Copening! Great to see that it's been on your horizon for a while - totally wonderful when you realise a dream that you've held for a while. Like you I had to wait a while to secure Neville - about 45 years!! It's that little boy thing I've had since I was ... well ... a little boy and now, the wrong side of 50, I can play with a proper toy at last - woohoo! You're right - sunny winter's day, top down, exhilarating, but heaters on full, lol! Anyway, Norma - have a ball in your little red roadster and post up a pic of your pride and joy sometime - got a name yet???
Welcome to Copenworld! Here's another option for boot rack. https://www.copenworld.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=1943&page=10
Hi Norma!! Welcome to the wonderful world of Copening!! And to the delights of retirement! The Old Badgers heartily recommend both
Hi Norma! I'm a fellow proud lady owner of a very special little car. Even 18 months on, I still smile when I see Nobby sitting on the drive. You're very brave having the roof down! Try having it down on a cloudless night: much fun Btw where's home?
Hi, I'm another proud lady owner of a red copen. I've only had mine from September but have already done over 2000 just pottering around in it and I have loved any minute of it.
Oh yes, roof down on a cloudless night with the full moon!! I'm in Edinburgh. My Copen was in Keighley so it was fantastic to have a good long drive in it to bring it home. I don't usually name my cars but I can't resist - she'll be called Ruby. Partly due to the previous posts re Stones' songs - Ruby Tuesday of course. I bought her on a Tuesday! And partly because my brother always sings Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town when he's doing karaoke.
And of course it's ruby colour! Great name Nobby is so called because his reg number is KM08 which looks a bit like knob if you squint a bit
Hello there Norma. Happy Copening to you! We live only 3 miles from Keighley, in Bingley. I can't believe that we've missed a Copen for sale on a forecourt. I presume that you bought it privately? Hope all goes well with Ruby. Cheers! Phill and Lin and Buzz.
No indeed, it was at the Pentagon garage. However, I have been haunting Autotrader for months so I probably saw it before the 'ink' was dry on the posting! We stayed in the Swindon Travelodge and got a pizza and chips delivered to our room. Delicious pizza - and only £6.40 including delivery! My partner wants to move down there if everything is so cheap and such high quality!
Welcome and congratulations. Good to see another copen around these parts. Beware of the Forth bridge though, the bumps are brutal in the copen!
Hi Norma, I've just bought a boot luggage rack from Boot-Racks.co.uk (friendly and helpful) and I'm sat at home waiting for it to be delivered. I've gone for a 'Classic' removable rack which is secured to the boot by stainless steel clamps (no drilling). They manufacture for boots with or without a spoiler (without a spoiler the clamps fit to the front and rear edges of the boot; with a spoiler the clamps fit to the left and right edges of the boot). Paintwork is protected from the clamps by rubber gaskets. Cost £159.00 plus p+p If I can work our how to attach a photo to a post I will re-post when I've fitted it - if I can't you can get the idea from their website although they don't yet have a photo of the Copen. Enjoy!!!
