I just purchased a 659cc turbo Copen just a few days ago! Yay! So far I'm very happy with its performance! ☺️

However, there seem to have some wheel alignment issues. I was at the tyre shop the other day and the mechanic jacked up my vehicle to see what's the problem....he identified that the bushings on the steering rack was worn off, which caused the steering wheel being off alignment.

I was wondering if anyone can advise what size and brand or link where I can be able to get for the steering rack bushings? Been searching high and low without any knowledge of what ID and THK I should get for the right bushing to fit. :(

    Thanks in advance! :D

    Hello and welcome,
you can probably get them at the Daihatsu dealer, as there are next to no aftermarket parts

    Salieri,

Thanks for your advise! Do you know of any links to where I can purchase them online? I'm thinking of changing it on my own.

    Cheers

You can get the parts at a daihatsu dealer (there should be some in singapore), there are almost no online shops that sell daihatsu original equipment parts...
You can still do it yourself, but if you want daihatsu parts go to the dealer

    Thanks for the speedy reply!

In that case let me ask "sts" as they seem to be the authorize dealer in singapore.

    Cheers mate.

However, they seem to be very slow on the parts freighting from Japan. 2 weeks for air shipment and 3 months for sea shipment. :/ it's pretty ridiculous as I'm in the logistic industry and it will never take that long.

Do you think i would be able to get the original bushing from other country authorized dealers? seems like it would be much faster than STS.

If they are willing to ship it to you why not?

If you have the part number, Jesse Streeter can probably have them sent to you in a week or two direct from his Daihatsu contacts.

Might be more pricey, though, as he deals with JPY as a currency.

That would be awesome, time for me is much more crucial thou. Hmm I do have an attachment of a picture I don't know if it will work to the exact part I'm referring to thou.

The bushings is what I actually need....

    Bushings: 45515(RH), 45517(LH)
    U clamps: 45514(RH), 45515(LH)

Thank you!! Let me know hehe!

    I don't think you'd need the U clamps, they shouldn't wear out.
As for the rubber bushes if you can measure them you'll probably find something else that would fit of another car.
Might even be able to find nolathane ones that would fit too.

Would you guys have the measurements? I assume someone must have changed the bushings before? Please to hear from you guys soon.

    Cheers mate!

I just did a quick Google. Daihatsu = Toyota and as such many parts are interchangeable. It looks like the same parts code (but different part numbers) is used in Toyota 4Runners (96-02) and the MR2 SW20 for starters. I'm not sure if the second sequence of numbers after the parts code refers to a specific model...

    45516 & 45517 GROMMET, STEERING RACK HOUSING ~USD7.00

    Try your local Toyota dealership.

Thanks mate, I found The part number and checked with the supplier on this. Apparently they have to order this from Japan so yeah.

Some workshops say is the steering rack has to change and some say the bushing is worn off I'm not too sure how to find out the difference with both as I'm quite clueless. :(
