Hello everyone Long time I haven't posted on the site, but I spend regularly time reading you 5000 miles with my '660' since I bought it last july, wonderfull time ! I want to replace the coolant liquid of the engine, but I didn't find clear explanation on how to. Service manual doesn't explain. I know that there is a tap at the lower part of radiator; if I open it and open the radiator cap, the coolant comes out, but what about coolant inside the engine How to empty completely the liquid before filling with new coolant ? Thank you to people who will spend time to answer to me. Have good time driving your Copen
On a lot of today's cars there is no drain tap on the radiator. You usually have to remove the bottom hose to drain the system. Gravity will drain nearly all the water from the engine, radiator and hoses though you could back flush the system to really clean it out. To back flush it though you'll have to remove the top hose so you can insert a hosepipe.
Thank you DaG for answering. I must apologize: if the procedure is not given in Copen Service Manual, may be it's because it is given in Owner's Manual - Do-It-Yourself maintenance service It's not so often that this kind of book gives usefull information on how to service your car. This one does, read it more than I did :-(( If someone does not have the Owner's Manual and need to do engine coolant change, I will be pleased to send it a copy of the regarding pages. Have a good time running and servicing your precious car
The coolant in the block doesn't always drain. Often there is a bolt on the block to remove to drain it. Use the hose is possibly not a great idea if you live in a hard water area. I've not done the coolant on the Copen, but I plan to.
