    Hi guys
Just driven the copen home from Asda and a yellow warning light came on. It looks like a tap/pump picture. Have looked in the book and it says it is a malfunction indicator light and to go to the garage. Has anyone any ideas what type of problem this might be. Hopefully not an expensive one.

    Thanks
    Liz:(

It could be one of many things that has caused it to come on.
The car has sensors dotted around it, they are there to warn you if the car isn't operating inside it's correct parameters. If a problem is detected the MIL lights up to warn you but you don't know which of the sensors has triggered the light.
You need a code reader to find out what the problem is or take it to a garage and they will tell you. The MIL is known to come on and then go off again of its own accord. If it doesnt go out in three or four starts and stops of the engine you should investigate the problem.

Read this thread, there's a bit of info about code reading and the MIL.

If the car is overdue a service it might be worth having it serviced. Something as simple as a faulty spark plug can bring the light on.

Did you buy a reader? I know your problem went away but they are worth having in case of a future problem.

I'm hanging my serious nose over a couple. I've been spending on a few other things at present and as its not a pressing purchase it can wait. But I a keep for a toy to play with.

When I buy a toy to play with its a RC glider. I've got a loft full of them, other RC stuff and magazines. I've just been looking for a small slope soarer on eBay but the wife will not be happy if another large parcel turns up.:D

I only bought it in Feb and think she had it serviced in October so I think it wont hurt to get it serviced. I work in a college and they have a motor vehicle maintenance DEPT. They said they will put it on the computer for me they will do service as well just need to buy the bits for it to be done. Think there is a post with what to buy for a service on here somewhere.

    Cheers Guys

If it was serviced last October it is unlikely to be a spark plug causing the problem. The turbo engined Copen needs regular oil changes but not plug changes so I don't think servicing it will put the light out.
Get your college friends to hook it up and read the code or codes that have caused the fault. Then buy whatever is needed from a motor factors or accessory shop. Have them change the oil at the same time if it hasnt been changed since October.
