Hi Everyone My name is Jules and I have owned a 2006 Copen for four just over four years. I have loved this little car from the moment I saw it. I have today noticed that my right exhaust pipe has fell off. The entire chrome trim is missing and half of the interior exhaust pipe is missing. As you can tell I have not got a clue what I am talking about and wondered whether this is a common fault. It looks as though it has rusted off. The left exhaust is also rusting. I am also finding rust on other parts of the car, mainly the wheel arches. Has anyone else ever experienced these problems with their Copen? The car is only four years old after all? I do love this little car and it has been trouble free up to now.. Thanks. Jules
Hi Jules, I'm pretty new to the world of the Copen myself. One thing I have learnt is about the rust issue on the rear arches. As your car is only four years old, it is still within the manufacturers six year anti corrossion warranty. Take the car to your dealers & get them to fix it under the warranty. They should take photos & send them to Daihatsu in Japan for them to a agree to do the work. Don't let them tell you it's untreated stone chip damage. As for the exhaust, that may just be down to wear & tear. Milleage in winter/salty conditions.
Thank you for replying. I am going to take it to a Daihatsu Dealer to get the rust done. I can't quite believe my bad luck today as a work colleague has driven into the back of me. I think I must be having one of those days! :-((
Chrom eexhaust extensions Hi Jules Just joined forum. I have a 2006 copen 11,000 miles and the chrome extension has just fell off the back of my exhaust too. Think it may be a bit of a design flaw as only held on by 4 iny spot welds. I have tried Daihatsu dealers with no joy, as you cannot get chrome part you have to buy a new exhaust at £210! Anyone who knows where you can purchase the extension chrome part only, I would leave to here from you. Thanks clive
Hi Yeah i've been told I need a rear back box and it comes in one part. A Daihatsu Dealer said they could get me one for £210.00. I rang Kwik Fit and they said £240.00. Kwik Fit quoted just short of £300.00 for the part and to fit it. I won't be taking them up on the offer! Does anyone know of anywhere else? I have looked on the net but i'm not having much luck. Also does anyone know how to get the offside rear light off? Thank you. Jules
