Have just returned from a fab week in the Lake district .Stopped in a caravan just outside Silloth which you get to from a fabulous road to drive in the copen starting at Jct 41 m6 all the way to Wigton ,nice flat tarmac ,not many pot holes and some great bends. Copen parked outside the caravan we stayed in A bit of boating action on the lake in front of caravan The main reason for the trip was to attend Solfest https://www.solfest.org.uk/ ,where we had a superb time ,drank too much cider ,got dressed up in fance dress and did some serious DAD Dancing and ate some good food . Our Gangster outfits on the Sat night fancy dress MMM great pie n chips on the festival field Once sobered up we did a couple of walks in the Lakes taking in Barra fell on the outskirts of Keswick ,superb views from the top. The Copen highlight of the week was a drive over the Penrith to Alston A686 road http://www.drivingforpleasure.co.uk...php?s=2011-09-16-penrith-to-alston-and-haydon if you do anything whilst in the area drive this road ,breathtaking scenery exhilarating corners including several switch backs. There is a cafe at the very top where we admired the view and had a brew.I was lucky to take it in mid week and there was very little traffic to get in your way (if you wish to put your foot down) We stopped for a couple of snaps along the way and my good lady also did a small video. No clean car snaps here as we covered about 400 miles last week. The video ,sadly sound is a bit poor as we had the top down but the exhaust tone was fab. <iframe width="960" height="720" src="" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Great photos. It looks like you had a great time. We did a similar trip in our Copen a couple years ago and drove cross country from the M1 (might have been the A1) to Lake Windermere. We detoured through Buttertubs pass - following the Top Gear route, the roads up there really are made for Copens.
Really enjoyed this post, hiramscodd - I'll do my best to come and park Neville next to you when you next make the trip! Great roads - yeah!
