This has probably been asked in a previous thread but a seem not the read the right ones.
I have a problem with the boot not opening. Checked and recharged battery. Roof light is on. Boot release doesn’t activate either on the button or with the key.
In sure the issue lies in the boot and I have pulled the manual boot release, but, the boot unlatched but will not open. It appears jammed and I don’t as yet want to force it. Is there some special motion I need to be aware of on opening?
Are the hinges seized or rusty? I know that when I get in the boot I’ll be able to sort it but just can’t get in the boot!!
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rob.

Would it be too much to ask for an introduction so that we know how long you’ve had the car, whether it ever worked etc.

Hi yes sorry. Car belongs to my partner. She calls her Moneypenny. Had her about 7 years now and up to this point no issues, but in the last year we have noticed the boot getting wetter with condensation. Also a bit of water collected behind the passenger seat. Put her under cover to stop a leak until carport finished but onset of virus put paid to building materials. Weather has improved and time to address the problem only then to discover the boot not opening, hence the question. Thanks for any insight.

Ok, that helps. When you use the emergency release, did you hear the boot “pop” as the catch released ? I assume you’re avoiding removing the parcel shelf and pulling on the blue loops as specified in section 10 of the manual.

The emergency release does the job of the servo in releasing the clamp onto the U piece on the bootlid. If so, you could try to gently manipulate the boot from the rear - it goes directly upwards about 1-2cm before it starts to pivot. Once you’ve got a gap, you can spray lubricant at the catch with a tube.

You can try gently (very gently and with even pressure) pressing down on the rear edge so that it presses back into the jaws of the clamp. You may also get lucky by continuing to operate the emergency release and eventually the clamp will work free. Try it when the sun has warmed the boot up a bit as well.

if it didn’t “pop”, it’s likely that the catch has seized and that’s going to be a bit of a bugger to get to and you’ll have to follow the full emergency procedure outlined in section 10 of the manual.

Good luck. I hope it’s just crap on the U clamp which just requires a bit of jiggling. Actually, once you’ve pulled the emergency release, get your other half to press the button while you press your ear at the back of the boot and listen for the servo. That’ll tell you what is/isn’t working for sure.

Disaster has struck! Finally managed to get the boot open to find a water damaged roof control module and 3 broken wires on the white terminal blocks.
Would anyone know where I might be able to source a new one or a second hand good one?
    Thanks.

You may be able to repair the connector but for the Conor Module, I would try eBay. There are a couple being broken for parts. Main thing is obviously sort out the water ingress first.
