Had a wet boot for a while and now the red roof indicator light has come on permanently. Can't open the boot or the roof. In an emergency (wife's handbag was in the boot!) I used the manual method (arms still bruised from reaching through the ridiculously small gap behind headrests), mopped out boot and everything seemed fine for a few days. But now the light has come on again, can't open boot and the manual method no longer works (I turn the blue handles, pull them through, but then met with complete resistance no matter how hard I pull!). Is there some kind of reset procedure I should have followed the first time I opened the boot manually?
The roof ECU (which also controls the boot, and is located in the boot) might have shit the bed. Take the battery negative terminal off for 2 minutes, put it back on, and try the normal boot button again. I'd also test and see if the windows open and close (do this before taking the battery terminal off) - the boot ECU is connected to the window ECU. I seem to recall the wires from the windows go to the boot ECU first, then onto the window ECU via a bus between windows and boot. If the windows don't work there's a good chance the boot ECU is fried from being in a pool of water :-(
Hello.....I have had the same problem. The windows do work and the boot has opened. But! The red light is still on and the roof will not open..... Can you offer and guidance please. Imogen.
Take a look at Mr. @threepot 's video, and the link in it's description - you might be able to figure out why the roof isn't working based on the error codes.
Can you smell any burning plastic outta the roof ECU? Do the connectors look burnt or corroded on it?
No! its just we have had heavy rain in Lancashire and the boot was a wet......The boot opens when the key is in the ignition but without the engine on... But the roof light is red and nothing happens when I unclip the roof clips and lock them again. Solid Red Light! Windows work fine...... Just no response from the roof....
Ok. Watch Threepots video and follow his blog post about finding out the error codes for the roof. It'll narrow down why the roof isn't working.
Everytime I've had problems with my roof it's been one of the micro switches in the roof clips stuck down. Just check with your finger if the click in and out. They seem to gum up from time to time. Oh and check the luggage blind thing in the boot is shut. That one always gets me too
