Recently I have been experiencing the aircon becoming cold ONLY after a couple of rounds in the car park or when the engine is sufficiently warmed up. And then there is an intermittent high pitch sound coming from the aircon vents after driving for awhile, it comes and goes as it please. My mechanic thinks that the aircon clutch is not catching intermittently, hence the non-existent cold air until you drive it around, but it does not explain the high pitch noise. I wonder if any of you have encountered this problem? Also, in SG, we have to change the whole compressor assembly as the parts dealers do not bring in the clutch repair kit. I am wondering if there are parts dealers on the internet for the Copen? Thanks much all!
My Air-con had a dodgy clutch. My mechanic just gave it a bit of a clean & off it went again. I bought a used compressor just in case that I still have. Never heard a high pitch sound though. You could get a used one from ebay, thought they seem expensive to me. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAIHATSU-...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d0cd8b60f My other suggestion is to try Jesse Streeter. See if he can import you one from Japan. Just contact him, tell him what your after. He'll reply back with a quotation based on estimated postage to you. If agreed, he'll buy the part. Which will be shipped to him. He'll then get the correct postage cost to you & send you an invoice. Once paid he'll send the part. http://jessestreeter.com/ It's a great service, used him a few times now.
when I used my aircon a few weeks ago (1st time in months) it made a bit of a whining noise (continuous) and didn't really get cold. I had it serviced (suck out old refrigerant, refilll with refrig and lube, check for leaks) which solved both issues. I know I should have run a/c regularly even in winter but didn't, so seals dried and gas excaped. I assume the whiniing was dry unlubed bearing or similar in compressor. Maybe your system is low on gas. Have they checked the pressure / topped it up with refrigerant and lube?
Thanks for the tip. I am not entirely convinced that I have a dodgy clutch, will be looking around for a second opinion.
I am inclined to think that it is low on gas or something is wrong with the relay switch; and i hope it is either of the 2 I mentioned as changing the compressor or the clutch is an expensive affair
