Hi everybody, I am looking to buy in EU a new AC Condenser for a Copen 1,3l year 2006. Is anyone who knows from which shop in EU or UK I can find. Thanks.

    Hi Copenro,

Finding a new A/C condenser for a Copen 1.3L is almost mission impossible.

I spent a long time searching online and even contacted Copen specialists last year to find either a new condenser for the 1.3L model or the correct part number to order one from Japan. Unfortunately, my original 1.3L condenser was leaking, and there was no direct replacement available.

In the end, the only solution was to use an A/C condenser from the 0.66L model. However, this required replacing both A/C hoses, as the original 1.3L hoses did not fit. It involved a lot of trial and error and four trips to the mechanic before everything finally worked properly.

Here are the part numbers I used:
    · 88450-97215 – A/C Condenser
    · 88716-97223 – Liquid tube (connects to the bottom-right of the condenser and goes to the dryer)
    · 88711-B2300 – Cooler hose (connects to the top-left of the condenser and goes to the A/C compressor)

The cooler hose (88711-B2300) bolts perfectly to the new condenser, but it does not directly fit the A/C compressor. You will need a specialist to modify it. In my case, I reused half of the original hose (the section connected to the A/C compressor) and joined it to the new cooler hose (88711-B2300).

It’s definitely a hassle, but with some patience, it does work in the end.

I ordered all parts from: IMPEX JAPAN — online new genuine spare parts shop.

    Best of luck,

    Shahram

    Hi Shahram,
Thank you very much for your message and detailed indication. I was also thinking to use the 0.66L AC condenser, but as you mentioned, not fit the pipes as they are in opposite side, probably this will be the last solution, but do you have any idea who is the OEM
manufacturer of the AC condenser? DENSO?, NISSENS? NRF?. Thank you and regards Dan.

    Hi Dan,

The OEM manufacturer of the A/C condenser is Daihatsu, and the A/C compressor is made by Denso.

For aftermarket options, KOYO and DAIWA RADIATOR produce A/C condensers for the Daihatsu Copen 0.66L model. Unfortunately, they do not make one for the 1.3L version, as the 1.3L Copen was never sold in Japan and was only available in the EU market.

You could try contacting former Daihatsu dealers in your area. Hopefully, they still have access to the parts software and can provide the correct part number, which may save you from having to replace multiple components just to make it work.

    Hi Shahram,
Thank you very much for your info, I will post in the end the story after I will solve it, however this is a critical issue with the AC condenser, because in any case of severe frontal hit, this can be damaged and no AC anymore if
you cannot replace, at mine I have a leaking and the gas stays for maximum 2 weeks with the proper AC. Thanks, once more, Dan.
