    Hi all
I bought my copen on Saturday after many years of admiring from afar.
I read lots and lots before buying and I do love it, however I did not read that when you are inside, (It has a turbo engine) it is really really noisy. Is this normal:)
    Thanks
    Liz

    Hi Liz,
Welcome to Copenworld. Congratulations on your purchase.
What sort of noise are you talking about. Engine noises or interior rattling?

Welcome! I find it noisy myself, both rattles and engine noise, particularly if you go fast.

    Hi both

it is engine noise I am guessing it is the turbo and it is fine I just did not expect it to be so noisy. Once I hit 30 mph it gets a bit loud.

Having said that i do just love love love it:D

The 659 engine is high revving. It is a little harsh at higher revs.
Unless i'm giving it the beans. I've learnt to change my driving style. Keeping the car in a higher gear to keep the revs lower. Keeping the engine quiet.

There are rattles & squeaks in the inside. Personally I don't think it's any worse than any other convertible. There are things you can do to quiet things a bit.
Like tightening the roof latches, lubricating the seals.

Or just improve the stereo & turn it up load.

I dont know about the engine noise - i dont find it that bad at all - in fact when its idiling, sometimes i think its been switched off. But the rattles from inside the interior - thats a different story - lots of rattles around the roof hatches and doors. but thats normal with convertables. Noise of the turbo is more of a whistle, is that the noise you mean?

Yeah without an induction kit fitted. You have to really listen to hear the turbo.

I was driving to work this morning and trying to think how to describe the noise. It is defo more of a growl than a whistle.

I had an astra convertible before and you could hardly hear the engine but the copen is a different story that is why I thought it must be the turbo. It is ok until I get to around 30mph and then it is quite noisy. I will get used to it just want to know that there is not an underlying problem.;)

There isn't much (any) sound deadening under the bonnet. If your used to something quiet it is noticeable that the Copen is loud.

Was the car serviced before you bought it?
