i feel fo you guys with the rust problem - so is it the salt they put on the roads in winter? Mine is never undercover even in 40C day like today -never even seen a spec of rust on it, or under it. Is there something you can spray onto it, to prevent the rust from happening?

Rust occurs differently in different countries/climates. Here where its hardly ever hot and not often warm, its generally cool and damp. So its not always rain but damp air that condenses on the inside of metal panels on colder nights (days would usually be warmer to create the humidity) so you get an unseen thin layer of moisture on the metal to constantly but the rust prevention under pressure. maybe even little beads form if high humidity and cold nights and collect in tight spaces. This is one reason why rust appears from nowhere on the wings of cars in UK, appearing through what was apparently perfect paintwork.

Now in Saudi Arabia for example, you don't get this type of rust formation. Its mostly dry and warm. Rain evaporates quickly. Not much humidity to get hidden .condensation. But their bonnets and even roofs can get to be just an ocean of rust. This is because they get a near constant micro-abrasion, sand rubs down the lacquer and paint. In contrast the doors can be in relatively good condition. This is why you often see them with covers over the front bumper/bonnet but you don't see then in the UK.

how can i check inside the door - it worries me as when you wind down the windows or wash the car - even the next day you can wind them up and they are wet - so whats happening in the door frame - (women owner !!!)

Follow the how to change your door speaker guide to get behind the door card.
    http://www.copenownersclub.org.uk/removing-your-factory-fit-speakers/
There's a plastic membrane that stops moisture getting on the inside of the car. There are lots of holes in the bottom of the door for water to drain out. The reason you window gets wet is that on the rear of the rubber lip on the window at the top of the door is a felt like material. This helps the window slide up & down on the rubber. This felt material stays damp for a while.
