Good morning to all Copen fans out there. Hope we are all well?

Some of you will have seen a thread that we started regarding the tonneau cover and whether we had all the correct parts to fit it to Buzz.

We now managed to do that :) but there is still an issue :(

When the roof is retracted into the boot and the tonneau is fitted, the rear rubber seal of the tonneau just rests ontop of the roof panel. Obviously, this is a problem.

Please can anyone advise how should the tonneau be fitted so that it is suspended above the roof? I'm sure that someone will be able to help. :D

    Cheers!

    Phill and Lin and Buzz.

    Hi Phil,

please have a look at this thread.
From post #5 on we started to discuss the cause for that problem and from post #10 on Coxsie presented a perfect solution instead of buying a complete backpanel.

Please let me know if I can be of any further help.

    Andreas

PS: Keep on going, the improved looks with the tonneau cover fitted definitely is worth the effort (IMHO).

Hello there to all you Copen fans out there! Hope I find you all well?

I'm still in a state of happy disbelief! :D

When I bought my 'new and complete' tonneau cover for Buzz a couple of months ago I was chuffed, but in the back of my mind, I knew it couldn't be that easy. And sure enough it wasn't.

The standard steel beam that is covered in black felt material and is fitted at the back of the chrome roll over hoops is NOT SUITABLE to attach the tonneau cover to.

The reason for this is when the cover is fitted to the standard beam, it sags and droops down and sits ontop of the retracted roof, and if the car is driven like that, the cover would scratch and damage the roof.

What is needed is a different beam which has 3 small stubs of tube welded to it which accept the chrome rods which are fitted to the tonneau cover.

When I new this, I was very disheartened and nearly relisted it on Ebay :-(( I thought that the cover is difficult enough to find, let alone the corresponding special steel beam!

Anyway, by pure fluke, I stumbled across one of these special beams the other day, brand new and in the original box! :D So of course I snapped it up.

I intend to get it fitted to Buzz over the weekend, and post some photos. I'll also post details of the correct part numbers so that other members might be able to find the same.

Happy Phill and Lin and Buzz. :D

Good to hear that you keep on going, congrats to your backpanel-find!
    :)

    Keep us posted,
