Your doing a good job there ,that one should outlast a lot of them now.

After i treated the metal of the wings i hammerited all around the outer edge. People will ask why? the reason why is because in the middle of the wing was fine but around the edge there was little patches of rust starting from the build up of mud and general bits that flick up in the arches from the road. You never see the inner wing so its better to be safe than sorry

You've done a total job on your car, that's for sure! I have a 59 plate and, like you, was dead shocked at the extent of the corrosion after such a short period of time. It's something we've got used to ignoring in this day and age, now that manufacturers generally do a pretty good job of protecting the metal.

When I contributed to Adam's excellent thread (https://www.copenworld.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=535&page=3) I'd done a Waxoyl job on Neville, but I sure wasn't as thorough as you've been. Like Old Badger, I'm slightly concerned now, but hopefully he'll be OK (Neville, rather than OB ... but then ...!).

Anyway, great job - should outlast you and me!

Thanks for the post. Yeah it is really shocking how a new car can look after a few years on the road. I was told mine was mainly rapped up in the garage so wouldn't of expected it. I looked at your thread and you have done a good job. Only reason I'm going over everything is because I'm planning on doing other mods to her. I have been working on car bodies for a long time now - fitting kits made for other cars on cars I like, modding arches and so on but the one thing I'm not is a mechanic. Know the basic stuff. But would suggest if your gonna keep your little beauty then take the arches off.

Time for going over the brakes. Treated the brakes as they was a bit rusty. After that give them a coat of red

Took me a VERY LONG time to get the back bumper off as the pins on the lights were very stiff. Nearly gave up and was 5 mins from ripping them off. Finally realised it was me trying to push one side out at a time hahaha

Halford's brake calliper paint? I did 4 coats on all my brakes, and it's still keeping well - 1/4 of the tin is still left! You might want to put a coat or two of clear on it, to make them shine for longer.

No didn't get this paint from Halfords got it from my local modding shop. Will have to give the clear a go after i finished my arches sounds a good idea

As I was bonding my arches on thought I want to see whats happening on the inner arch. So I scraped the arch sealant off and separated the outer arch and the inner arch to discover the copens rust from inside out? WTF!! My arches was all sealed up and no water or moisture could get in so don't understand, Anyway while I was here, opened the up as wide as i can and treated the metal to get rid off all the rust
