Hi, i,m considering a 2004 Copen in red, car has been subject of a Category C, insurance right off, needed a new wing, and front bumper, which both have been professionally fitted, also this car although, running well, and looks loveley, has no service history at all, question is; would this be a good buy, at £3,400 or, leave well alone???
Hi Trebor2001, Each to their own - I would let it go! Damage on a car so small could have other effects? Questions I would pose are: Have the airbags gone off? This would indicate the level of impact! Who repaired it? - Dealer or back street? How many miles has the car done? Why no service history? If the corners have been cut on the servicing where else have corners been cut? I could go on....... Hope this helps.
I agree. If you have about £1500 left after paying £3400 for it, you'll be okay to cover the cost of fitting a new turbo. If it hasen't been serviced properly, that turbo won't be happy.
Copen Cat c Thanks guys, even after 2 replies, i know which road i,m going down, "leave well alone" i,m a Scotsman, and trying to "save" or even spend it, is a hobby of ours, but in this occassion, trying to get a bargain could end up the non bargain of the year, whilst i,m on, how about this one, 2004, 18,000 genuine miles, full documented service history, 2 owners, in silver, red interior 1 yrs mot, 5 months tax price = £5,200????
That's more the ticket! Just check the service history to make sure 'all' has been done at the 3k/ correct time intervals. Also, check the Service Book to make sure the Anti corrosion/ body checks have been completed - stamped, signed and the 'pull off bit' returned to Daihatsu? Then take a good look over the body work - start with the Rear Wings, then the Sills, Engine bay and also around the Windscreen (just by the top of the front wings) - if all is clear of Rust then could well be a goer? Best.
