» Changes to User Registration |

We're getting a lot of spammers again on the forums at the moment.
I'm having to remove dozens of users every week, and deleting hundreds of spam messages.
Fortunately, the automatic spam detection I have put in place is stopping most of it before it appears on the forums, but some is still getting through, and it's becoming tedious having to manage it.
I'm now going to approve all new users before they are allowed to post in the forums. I'm hoping this will be a temporary measure.
New users will need to fill out at least some of the user profile options when registering to demonstrate that they are genuine and want to positively contribute to the site.
Unfortunately, it will mean a bit of a delay before new users can get onto the forums, but I don't want the forums to be filled with rubbish, so it's the lesser of two evils.
If you spot any undesirable posts in the forums, you can help by clicking the little red warning triangle at the top right-hand corner of the post, and this will send me a message to deal with it. Thanks to all of the members who have been helping with this already.

» New Daihatsu Concept Car |

Autoblog reports that Daihatsu is showing a new concept car, the Daihatsu D-R, at this year's Indonesian Motor Show.
It looks very much like a refreshed and modernised version of the Copen.
It's not the first time that Daihatsu has shown a Copen-like concept, so it remains to be seen whether it (or anything similar) will ever make it into production.
We can but hope!

 It's the 6th annual UK meet of Kei Cars in the Park on September 23rd at Sutton Coldfield.
It will be a great day out, and there's even a chance for your lovely Copen to win a prize.
There are accommodation suggestions for anyone wanting to stay over.

» Copen Production to Cease in August 2012 |

Daihatsu has announced that production of the Copen will cease in August 2012.
Originally unveiled as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1999, the car went into production in 2002, with around 56,000 made to date.
The occasion will be marked with the release of 500 white 10th Anniversary Limited Edition models, to be available in Japan only.
With no plans for a replacement, it ends a remarkable 10 year run for this amazing little car, which will surely become a future classic.

» Site Maintenance |

The site maintenance work is now complete.
Copenworld has been relocated on to new servers, and the bills have been paid for the next couple of years, so that should secure the future of the site for a while!
You may still have some intermittent problems with accessing the site while the changes propagate across the internet, but this should resolve itself within the next day or two.
If any parts of the site are not loading properly, please clear your browser cache and try again.
If the problems persist, or if you spot anything that isn't working correctly (there may well be a few broken links here and there), please let me know.

Kei Kars in the Park Copen Rep "Adam K" has started a thread in the copenworld forums gathering pictures for a Copen 2013 calendar.
Dust off those cameras and get out in the Copen to grab some great photos, then hop over to the forums here and share those photographic masterpieces.

According to Auto Express, a new Copen is being developed by Daihatsu, powered by a new Toyota 900cc two-cylinder petrol engine.
How will this model compare to the current model, and will it see the Copen returning to Europe? Copenworld will track the story as it develops over the coming months.

Head along to Kingsbury Water Park at Sutton Coldfield on September 18 for the Kei Kars in the Park Annual Meet 2011.
It should be a great day out, and an opportunity to meet up with fellow Copen owners, as well as the owners of other similar class cars. Copenworld member Adam K is the person you need to talk to, and you can find out everything you need to know on the forums here.

If you're looking for something to do on a (hopefully sunny) Summer's Sunday in England, why not join Kei Cars in the Park (KKITP) at Japfest 2 on 10th July at Donington Park?
Hop over to the KKITP website for all the details. You need to book by 23rd May if you're interested, so get in quick.
